Hamlet will be here in Sta. Cruz, Laguna

William Shakespeare's Hamlet is one of his famous works. It's a story of a prince of Denmark whose father was murdered by his own uncle. He then spends most of his life in revenge of his father's death.
The Seventh Stage Production House is bringing this play here in Sta. Cruz, Laguna. At the Pedro Guevara Memorial National High School Multi-purpose Gym on December 4 and 5, 2010, there will be two shows: 10:00 am and 2:00 pm.
Tickets are at Php150.00 each.

Fudge De Leon in Hamlet

The play is directed by Mel Magno and features our very own Fudge De Leon together with JC Cuadrado, Mikel Campos as Prince Hamlet. With them are Orly De Dios, Juan Carlo Tarobal and Mondrian Sampang.

The ILC UN Celebration Yesterday

I didn't want to go that early because it was hot to go out. But I didn't want to miss these kids either.

So, we got there a little late for the opening ceremonies. At the entrance, my sister met one of her high school classmates and as they talked, I could hear the cutest voice of the kids introducing themselves. So, I left my sister and went ahead to the activity center.

The kids were introducing themselves then the country they represent, its capital and its landmark. And I say at that age, I don't really know how much a kid can retain, since I have no idea about all these.

I took this shot... a little patriotic but I love this:

Well, I really think that the UN celebrations and other kiddie celebrations will not be complete without singing the ever-popular song "I Am But A Small Voice." Here, the kids are still in their cultural dresses and singing the song with gestures.

Then, before I knew it, the dance number started. But I was excited about the Hawaiian thingy. It's not that wearing a grass skirt (lol) is my frustration, but I wanted to see the kids in this attire.

While everyone was taking pictures of their kids, I thought of the teachers. Aren't they dancing with the kids? Here you can see them in front of the kids and doing the dance, too... well a little discretely that maybe only I and some people noticed.

Then, of course, there has to be a folk dance. Well, there really has to be. I also feel that any presentation should have at touch of our heritage. And I feel really, really good when I see kids learning something about our culture.

Thanks to our friends from Infante's Learning Center. I have been invited on this event by one of their staffs, Ms. Jenny Ramirez. Now, if you have something happening in your school or office that you'd really like to share, let me know. After all, all good things are meant to be shared anyway.

Time To Shine

This is the third week of the series.

Tomorrow will be their time to shine!  At the Sunstar Mall's activity center, the Miss Gay 2010 contestants will be off to show their talents.

The Municipal Culture and Tourism Affairs Council (MCTAC) - Sta. Cruz, Laguna

Last night, I had the privilege to attend the induction and oath-taking of the new set of officers of the Sta. Cruz, Laguna Municipal Culture and Tourism Council (MCTAC).  The event was held at the Camp Allen Training and Development Center, Bgy. Patimbao, Sta. Cruz, Laguna.

The event started at 7:00 in the evening with a short prayer by the council's auditor, Mrs. Azucena Gacias.  It was then followed by a message of greetings by the president, Mr. Benito Copoc, and another message of greetings by their honorary Vice-Chairman, Councilor Laarni A. Malibiran and Honorary Vice-Chairman, Councilor Ramon Tan.  

After the messages, the new set of officers of the MCTAC were introduced by the Sta. Cruz, Laguna Tourism Officer, Ma. Lourdes A. Bituin and was immediately followed by the oath-taking ceremony headed by Sta. Cruz, Laguna Vice Mayor Louie Cambel De Leon.

After the oath-taking ceremony, there was a surprise number by the No Kru dancers.  No Kru dancers is one of the monthly finalists at the famous talent search program at ABS-CBN, "Showtime."  They are one of those two finalists that came from Sta. Cruz, Laguna.  

Right after the number, dinner was served.  The delicious dinner was made of various local viands.  Ginisang toge (sauted bean sprouts), pata tim (a Filipino-Chinese delicacy), grilled chicken and pork sinigang.  Fruit salad served as dessert.

After dinner, Sta. Cruz, Laguna Mayor Dennis Panganiban delivered his message to the organization.  He spoke about how he looks forward to the assistance of the private sector in the promotion and development of tourism in the town.  He hopes to boost tourism in the town by introducing projects in the next coming months.  One of the most promising project which will bring tourist and travelers in town is the upcoming ferry service that cuts across the Laguna de Bay from Sta. Cruz, Laguna to Pasig, Metro Manila. 

After the event, most of the guests went home excited and hopeful.
