And The Winner Is.....

>> Friday, October 22, 2010

Congratulations to Comment NO. 15, CLUELESS!

I was really so excited about this give-away... my first, ever! And really, really... thank you to all these 22 people who took time to vote! I was actually aiming to get at least 50 comments but with about 262 page views yesterday, I really don't know why only 22 got to vote.

The first comment is entry #1, the second is entry #2, and so on. Sad to say, I have no option but to disqualify those two anonymous entries because you didn't have aliases. Sorry, guys, I don't want to have confusion just in case one of the two wins. This means that the number range for the draw was from 1 to 20.

But anyhow, this is the screen shot of the draw.

CLUELESS, do I know you personally? hehehehe... This actually made it more exciting because I only know the aliases. So, now that we've drawn the winner, CLUELESS, please send me your name and your e-mail address at admin@lagunalife.org so we can talk about where we can meet up and give you the tickets. And be ready for some pictures, because I'd love to have one taken with me and you together.

By the way, the Tag This Bag Contest didn't have any entries at all. I was actually sad letting that prize go, especially now that we are in what we call the longest celebration of the year - Christmas. But anyhow, let me see if I can strike a deal again and put it up once more, and let me see if I can come up with something as easy as this giveaway.

These free tickets are brought to you by our friends from The Sunstar Mall Cinemas.

Mall-Wide Sale!

>> Thursday, October 14, 2010

Christmas is just 71 days away as of this writing.  Many of you may have started their Christmas shopping this early or some are just about ready to start as soon as they receive this month's paycheck.

These days, we don't need to worry about getting stuck in the traffic when going to the mall.  The Sunstar Mall is just a few minutes away from wherever we are here in Sta. Cruz, Laguna, or maybe about thirty minutes max when you're from the nearby towns.

On these days, the mall-wide sale will offer surprising discounts on selected shops and items.

This will be a great time for you and your family to experience shopping and eating good food without having to go through traffic and tiring yourself and your kids.

So, go get your purse and get ready to splurge!  Don't forget to bring your list of 'inaanaks' so you don't miss out anyone.

Holy Scrap!

>> Tuesday, October 5, 2010

** This is a sponsored post written by me in behalf of Pandayan Bookshop.  All opinions are 100% mine.

Pandayan Bookshop
Sunstar Mall
I used to keep a notebook with a lot of stuff in it.  Anything, actually.  A table napkin from a recently visited restaurant with a group of friends, or a swatch of a gift wrapper from a friend's birthday present.  Sometimes I even put a newspaper clipping of a very good article which I wanted to keep, or an advertisement of the mobile phone of my dreams.  All this in a small school notebook from the previous year.

But not anymore...

Scrapbooking Starter Kit
Right now, I can start scrapbooking with a starter kit like this.  This scrapbooking starter kit is for only Php 150.00.  I got this at the Pandayan Bookshop in Sunstar Mall, Sta. Cruz, Laguna.

If you love scrapbooking, this will be a good start for you.  And with this starter kit, you and your friends can form a group and join the Pandayan Bookshop's "Bayanihan sa Barkada Scrapbooking Contest" which will be up until December 10, 2010.

So, go and get your scrapbooking starter kit at the Pandayan Bookshop, start scrapbooking, and join the contest which will give you and your friends the chance to win as much as Php 15,000.00.

Let me share with you the contest mechanics.

Mister Donut and the Western Union Gold Card

>> Sunday, October 3, 2010

Mister Donut: 12+1=12
I should have listened to my sister.

She told me not to use the Western Union Gold Card anymore because it's just a waste of time when we went to the Sunstar Mall last Thursday.  But the security guard from Western Union - RCPI at Regidor Street assured me that they will honor.  So, I figured that it may really be true with Mister Donut.

Well, unfortunately, Mister Donut Sunstar Mall turned down my card.

Maybe a lot of you will think that it's just what?  A free donut for every dozen?  But what I am talking about here is integrity.

At this point, I am not blaming Mister Donut.  I am just sharing the experience.  In fact, right now, I don't know whose fault is it anymore.  In my previous post, I talked about Goldilocks and the Western Union Gold Card wherein it seemed that it was Goldilock's shortcoming.  But after my experience with Mister Donut, there really seems to be a problem with the card.

We got the gold card for free anyway.  It's just that presenting and getting the card rejected is a totally annoying experience.

Goldilocks and Western Union Gold Card

>> Monday, September 27, 2010

If you are a holder of the Western Union Gold Card, you may be wondering why you cannot use it at the Goldilock's Bake Shop in Sta. Cruz, Laguna.  Because I couldn't use mine, too.

I was informed by Mam Lina of Western Union that they are indeed having problems because Goldilock's is not honoring the card.  She told me to try it give her a feedback.

Yesterday, I went there to buy one of those Mocha rolls.  Unfortunately, the card was denied when I was trying to use it.  There were no explanations offered.  They just said that they are not honoring the card.

So, this morning, I went to Mam Lina to report the problem - well, more of to confirm the problem.  She said that they, too are wondering why Goldilock's is denying the card.  From what I understand, other branches are honoring the card.

I checked the brochure which lists down the establishments and the amount of discount that they offer or any other promotional tactics, and here is what I discovered.

They are giving 5% discount on decorated cakes or Party Fanfeast Packages at any Goldilocks store.  Then, there is an asterisked line:  *5% discount is on base cakes cost only.

So, this means that other than cakes, party fanfeast packages, no discount is available on purchases.  And this means, too, that buyin a roll or a loaf of bread of any kind doesn't entitle the cardholder for the discount.
If Mam Lina or the people from Western Union has no complete knowledge of the deal, I am expecting that the people from Goldilocks should know the details of their promotion as well as its scopes and limitations, since they are the establishment concerned.  I am not expecting the people from the Western Union to know the details of the tie-up with all the establishments since there are more than a dozen of them.  And if they do know the details, I think they should explain it to the consumers and not just tell us plainly that "No, we don't accept the card."

This is only my understanding.  Mam Lina of Western Union told me that she will update me when this issue has been resolved within the two companies.

But for now, I will settle for the analysis that I made with regard to the issue.  Please don't hesitate to make a comment on this post if you have any other points of view.
